To learn how to write a biography for yourself or for a family member, start with my biography templates that are fill-in-the-blank and full of memory-sparking ideas and help with the general topic of how to write a biography.
Another simple way to write a biography or autobiography is to do it online. Our Story is a great way to write, share and preserve a biography.
Our Story is a new service that I discovered. It is free to sign up and it uses a unique timeline process to help you organize family stories, a biography or your own autobiography.
When it comes to documenting personal history, there are really only a few ways to do it. You can:
The subject of How to Write a Biography is a topic I think about a lot. I am always looking for ways to make it easier and quicker for people to do. Because I know that if something isn't easy, most people won't attempt it.
I recently came across a new and unique service called Life On Record.
This service is great as a solo project or for working with a parent or other friend or relative to record their biographies to CD!
One of the ways that I used Life on Record was with my siblings. What we did was this...
We wanted to create a recording of our childhood memories, especially the ones that mostly involve mom and dad. We planned to give this recording to them, on a CD, for Christmas.
First thing that I had to do was get my two younger brothers and younger sister on the same phone call. This, by itself, was a lot of fun. We live apart from one another and it had been a long time since we were "all together"...even if it was just on a phone call. (I used the near-free Internet phone service called Skype, by the way).
With all of us on the phone, I then dialed the Life On Record phone number, and soon we were reminiscing, talking and having a great time. Life on Record recorded the whole thing. Afterwards I just logged into my Life On Recordaccount and downloaded the phone call recording to my computer. Then I burned our conversation to CD.
Life On Record offers an optional service to put everything on CD and then send it to you. I would have probably opted for that, but Christmas was too close. I saved time by burning the CD myself.
Anyway, my experience using this service was very rewarding, easy to use and it was a blast.
Oh, and mom and dad loved the CD of our reminiscing. It turned out to be a great gift.
Besides using as my brothers and sister and I did, it can be used as a personal audio journal, for recording a family biography or for anniversaries and weddings. I'm sure that you could come up with some other ways as well.
I've used this service and corresponded extensively with the people who operate it. I can truly say that it is a very well run service with great customer support. If you want to give it a try or just get some more information, use this link: https://lifeonrecord.com
